Chain mesh designs for tire widths
Wide tires have special requirements for snow chains. Especially an adequate tread coverage with chain material must be ensured. In winter operation, different wide tire designs are used depending on the application. For tires with a small width, a 1-field design is used. However, if the tire becomes wider, the tread is extended by fields in width, here using the pewag universal as an example. A detailed list of tire widths (in mm) can be found in the table on the respective product pages.
Please note that the following recommendations regarding snow chain size and wheel/tyre dimensions are maintained with the utmost care. Due to extremely rapid technical changes, it is possible in individual cases that not all usage information is always up to date. We endeavour to keep the snow chain configurator up to date at all times, but nevertheless ask you to check the instructions of the respective vehicle manufacturer before fitting snow chains.
